Overview
This calorifier combines a steam heating coil and electric heating elements within a single tank. A dual-heating design provides complete operational redundancy. You can set the control system to prioritize economical steam heating while underway. Should the steam supply become unavailable, the system automatically or manually switches to the electric heaters. Crew members will have access to hot water 24/7, regardless of the ship’s status.

Key Features:

  • Dual Heating for Full Redundancy: Contains both a steam coil and electric heating elements to ensure hot water is always available.
  • Flexible & Economical Operation: You can use energy-efficient steam at sea and convenient electricity in port to optimize operational costs.
  • Fully Integrated Control: A single control cabinet manages both heating systems, allowing for prioritized or backup operation modes.
  • Designed for Uninterrupted Supply: An ideal solution for vessels where a constant hot water supply is a critical requirement.

Applications:

  • Vessels Requiring 100% Hot Water Availability: Serves as the primary choice for passenger ships, cruise liners, and LNG carriers where hot water supply is critical.
  • Ships with Variable Operational Profiles: Ideal for vessels that spend significant time both at sea and in port, allowing a switch to the most economical heating source.

Installation & Maintenance:

Installation: Secure the unit’s base. Connect water lines, steam supply and condensate return lines, and the main electrical power supply to the control cabinet.
Maintenance: Maintenance involves periodically inspecting both the steam control components and the electric heating elements. Internal tank cleaning via the manhole is recommended.

FAQ :

Q: How does the system switch between steam and electric heating?

A: You can configure the control system to prioritize steam. If water temperature drops and steam is unavailable, the controller automatically activates the electric heating elements to maintain the setpoint.

Q: Does this unit offer real cost savings?

A: Yes. It allows the vessel to use the most economical energy source available (Typically steam at sea, electricity in port). This practice optimizes energy consumption and reduces overall operating costs.
