Marine Oval Gear Flowmeter | High-Accuracy Positive Displacement
A high-accuracy flowmeter for measuring fuel and oil on ships. It uses a positive displacement oval gear mechanism to directly measure volume. Accuracy is available in Class 0.5 (±0.5%) and Class 0.2 (±0.2%).You can order the unit with a digital display and a 4-20mA output for remote monitoring.

Key Features:
- High-Accuracy Measurement: Provides accuracy of Class 0.5 (±0.5%) or Class 0.2 (±0.2%). This allows for precise fuel and oil accounting.
- Robust Material Options: Body materials include Cast Iron (1.6 MPa), Stainless Steel (up to 2.5 MPa), and Cast Steel for high-pressure applications up to 6.4 MPa.
- Designed for Marine Duty: Uses corrosion-resistant materials. The design is tested for shipboard vibration. It is different from standard industrial flowmeters.
- Ready for Automation & Hazardous Areas: Available with a digital display and a 4-20mA signal output for your control system. Explosion-proof models are available for hazardous zones.
Applications:
- Fuel Consumption Monitoring: Accurately measures fuel flow to main engines and generators for efficiency tracking and cost control.
- Bunkering & Fuel Transfer: Provides precise total volume measurement during fuel loading (bunkering) and transfer operations between tanks.
- Lube Oil Circulation: Monitors the flow rate of lubricating oil in critical machinery systems to ensure proper lubrication.
Installation & Maintenance:
Installation: Install the meter in a clean pipe. A filter should be installed upstream (before) the flowmeter to protect the gears. Ensure the flow direction arrow on the body matches the actual fluid flow.
Maintenance: Periodically check the display and connections. Clean the internal gears if performance changes due to contaminated fluid. Refer to the manual for cleaning procedures.

Need something specific?
We provide units with high-temperature configurations and heating jackets for heavy fuel oil (HFO). We can supply various flange standards and explosion-proof models. You can request full certification from major class societies (CCS, DNV, etc.).
FAQ :
Q: Why is this different from a land-based flowmeter?
A: Marine flowmeters use materials like Stainless Steel or Cast Steel for corrosion resistance and are designed to withstand ship vibration. They also meet higher accuracy standards (Class 0.5/0.2) required for fuel accounting.
Q: What is a heating jacket used for?
A: A heating jacket is a shell around the meter body. You can circulate steam or hot oil through it. This keeps heavy fuel oil (HFO) hot and at a low viscosity, so it can flow correctly through the meter.
Q: Do I need to install a filter?
A: Yes. You must install a filter before the flowmeter. This is a mandatory step to protect the high-precision internal gears from damage by solid particles in the fluid.
