Marine Hydrophore Tank | Pressurized Water Supply System | 0.1-5m³

A complete hydrophore unit designed to maintain stable pressure in a ship’s domestic water systems. Thecore of the system is the hydrophore tank, a marine pressure tank that uses a compressed air cushion to automatically control the water pump(s). This unit ensures a reliable supply of pressurized water.

Overview
Marine Hydrophore Tank is the central component of a vessel’s pressurized water supply. Its function is to provide constant water pressure to all service points, including drinking water taps, showers, and sanitary facilities. It operates by using a captive air bubble inside the sealed tank as a pressure cushion. A pressure controller monitors the system pressure, automatically starting and stopping the connected water pump to maintain pressure within a preset range. This process prevents frequent pump cycling and ensures a steady, reliable flow of water throughout the vessel.

Key Features:

  • Automated Pressure Control: The unit includes a pressure controller that automatically starts and stops the water pump to maintain stable system pressure. This allows for continuous, unattended operation.
  • Dual Pump Redundancy: The control system supports main and standby pump configurations. An operator can manually switch between pumps, which provides operational redundancy.
  • Integrated Monitoring System: Equipped with a visual liquid level gauge and a pressure gauge for real-time status monitoring of the tank’s water level and system pressure.
  • Designed For Shipboard Use: The unit features an assembled structure for installation in confined spaces. It includes an air charging valve for pressurization and a drain valve for maintenance.

Applications:

  • Potable water supply for accommodation and galleys.
  • Fresh and sea water supply for washing and sanitary systems.
  • Emergency water supply for firefighting and life-saving equipment.
  • Cooling water supply for small-scale equipment.

Installation & Maintenance:

Installation: The unit is delivered ready for installation. Secure the tank and pump base to the foundation.Connect the water inlet/outlet piping and the main electrical supply to the control cabinet.
Maintenance: Periodic maintenance includes checking system operating pressure, verifying the function of the pressure controller, and draining the tank for inspection as required. The standby pump should be operated periodically.

Custom Options Available:

Need something specific?

We manufacture units to meet specific project requirements. Customizations include tank volume (0.1m³ to 5m³), pump power and brand, control cabinet IP rating, and material selection. Advanced PID control systems and automated main/standby pump switching are available. Full classification society certification can be provided.

FAQ :

Q: How does the hydrophore tank reduce energy consumption?

A: By storing a volume of water under pressure, it acts as a buffer. This prevents the water pump from starting and stopping for every small use of water, which reduces the number of pump cycles and lowers overall energy use.

Q: What is the purpose of the dual pump (Main/Standby) system?

A: It provides redundancy for system reliability. If the main pump requires maintenance or fails, the system can be manually switched to the standby pump to ensure an uninterrupted water supply.

Q: How is the air pressure maintained inside the tank?

A: The tank is initially charged with compressed air to form a pressure cushion. An air charging valve is included to add more air if the pressure drops over time during operation.
